 MS Pennsylvania Dutch RideSo, a friend got me to commit to a charity bike ride for July 24th. I've been doing 50 mile rides almost every week and a couple of metric centuries as well, so I said "What the heck, sign me up for the Traditional."
My summer vacation (so far)How does this work again? I type here and words appear on the internet? Okay. Now all I have to do is remember how to construct a narrative.
2010-05-15Just rode about 50 miles. Ugh. Hilliest ride I've ever taken. There was one hill that would have made Lance Armstrong weep softly.* There was a cross-wind that occasionally threatened to knock me off my bike. On the last leg, I got my first blow-out on my new bike. On the other hand - how bad can a ride be, when the sun is shining, the temperature is just right, you're toodling along back country roads enjoying the wild flowers and making friends with the spring calves... and at the end of the ride you get to enjoy a parade and a barbecue? *Oh - and about Lance, he would have been weeping with laughter from watching me try to get up the hill, I'm sure.  |
